What is the Sacrament of Anointing?

Through prayer and the anointing of the body with the oil of the sick, a special grace of healing and comfort is given to the Christian who is suffering from a serious illness or the effects of old age. When should I schedule the Sacrament of Anointing?

Anointing of the sick,’ is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death. Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived.”  “The faithful should ask for the sacrament of anointing as soon as the right time comes, and should not follow the wrongful practice of delaying the reception of the sacrament.”

Please do not wait until the person is actively dying! Priest may not be available at the time of need!

How often can the sacrament be received?

The sacrament can be repeated if the sick person, having recovered, again becomes gravely ill or if the condition becomes more grave during the same illness.

Holy Mass and Anointing of the Sick.

On the First Friday of the Month, we celebrate the Sacrament of Sick at 12:15 P.M. at St. Margaret Mary, within a Eucharistic celebration. The Sacrament of the Sick will be administered to all who are suffering from an ailment or undergoing medical treatments, as well as the frail and elderly.
